Made with Gimp

If you’re looking for some tips about painting with Gimp – keep reading

Basically this kind of painting requires about 3-4 hours, and a quick sketch

Now this is currently my method of painting,

First step is playing on a new layer with the black and white brushes to create volumes, then add a background with some textures (on another layer)

Second step is adding some details but still in black and white shades on a new layer – then merge

Third step is adding a new layer for colors, using either “overlay, multiply or color” as layer attributes depending on the mood (multiply will be very dark, color might be too bright, overlay is a good bet)

and the next steps are all about refining and fixing, letting the inspiration run wild.
